Celebrating the Big ONE - 3x Over...

I had the privilege of being able to spend an afternoon with a very cute and handsome threesome!!! These beautiful babies are celebrating their first birthday.  Let me tell you photographing three 1 year olds is no small feet, especially since 2 of the 3 are learning how to walk.  They did extremely well though and I am so blessed to have had this opportunity!

These photos were taken in Historic Williamsburg, hope you enjoy them...

Top Secret Family Recipe....LEAKED!!!

I first met my husband back in 1999, that Thanksgiving he drove up to my parents house to spend the day with my family.  That morning for breakfast my mom served Pumpkin Pancakes with Apple Cider Syrup, let me tell you guys pancakes let alone breakfast doesn't get much better than this.  Once we were married, my husband had unrestricted access to the recipe...let's just call it a family pass.  After we were married we were both working nights as RN's up in the NICU and he decided it would be fun to make breakfast for everyone, so he decided on pumpkin pancakes.  Of coarse as all you who have tried them know they were a huge hit!!!  And the next thing I know, I see him standing at the copier handing out copies of the recipe, so this is where the leak began.  Since then, he has leaked it at every hospital he has worked at.  So, in the spirit of giving and to help you all welcome in the fall...here is the NOT so "Top Secret Family Recipe!"

Pumpkin Puff Pancakes with Apple Cider Syrup

Pancakes:

2 Eggs
1 c of Milk
1 3/4 c Bisquick Mix
1/4 c oil
1/2 c cooked pumpkin
2 T sugar
1/2 t each - cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger

Beat eggs on high for 5 minutes until thick and lemon colored.  Stir in remaining ingredients.  Pour batter onto medium hot griddle.

Apple Cider Syrup:

1 c sugar
2 T cornstarch
2 c apple cider
2 T lemon juice
1/2 t pumpkin pie spice
1/4 c butter

Mix sugar, cornstarch and spice in sauce pan.  Stir in cider and lemon juice.  Cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils for at least 1 minute.  Remove from heat and blend in butter.

And yes there is a lesson to take from this story...if you have a top secret recipe...whatever you do don't let my husband get a hold of it :)

2x the Fun!!!

I had the privilege of photographing 6 week old twin girls along with their parents.  The biggest challenge for us was trying to keep both girls happy and the place they were the happiest and felt the most secure was when they were in their parents arms!  Hope you enjoy these photos of this beautiful family!

A Day on the Farm...

I got a chance to go as a chaperone on one of Makya's field trips this past week, our first stop was at Oak Grove dairy farm followed up with lunch at Bluebird Gap Farm.  It was so much fun being able to go with the kids and watch them as they learned all about how they get the milk from the cow to the carton we buy in the grocery store.  They also had the opportunity to feed a baby calf from a bottle, go on a hay ride, listen to a Bible story as well as eat cookies and drink a glass of milk while on the farm.  Here are a few pictures I captured while on the adventure...hope you enjoy them!

Introducing Riley...

At the beginning of the summer I had put out a posting on Facebook for a newborn model.  I had a lot of people interested but most of them are all due some time in the next couple of months.  So, after waiting and waiting, Riley's mom contacted me and stated she would be interested, in having me take her daughters photos.  I was thrilled as you could imagine.  I have photographed several infants but this was to be my first newborn shoot. That is, in photography terms portraits taken within the first 2 weeks after birth.

I hope you enjoy the photos!

I wanted to show you all this just for fun!  So, here are the two pictures I combined to make the final image!  As you can see Mom never left Riley's side.  The most important thing to remember during any photo shoot is SAFETY!

Hope you enjoyed the photos!
