Jeremiah - Class of 2013

A little over a week ago I had my first senior from the class of 2013!  We had a great time going around to a couple different locations as we worked to achieve these shots.  Wishing you a great senior year Jeremiah!

These shots were taken about a little over an hour before sundown. As you can see from the shots at the beach there was no shade but due to time of day it helped us avoid a lot of those harsh shadows :) Pin It Now!

A Father's Day Surprise...

You may have heard the phrase once or twice before..."location, location, location" and just as true to real estate a great location is essentially as important to a photographer.  When I take on a client, one of my first questions to them will be what kind of session are they looking for indoor, outdoor, etc.  So, when I asked my last client if there was a specific place they wanted to use for their outdoor location, they chose a spot I had never been to before...so it is fare to say I was walking in blind :) So, lets start out with a couple of beautiful shots of the location they chose.

Now they chose this beautiful location because it was the area where they grew up.  So, here is the thing though, their Father who these pictures are for lived just around the corner...so we had to do a little sneaking around.  Let me tell you trying to sneak around with 9 people plus myself and my fabulous assistant (my husband) is not an easy thing to do!  But I think we escaped unnoticed.

I've been sitting on posting these photos now too so their would be no "leaks" to spoil their Dad's/Grandpa's Father's Day! Hope you all enjoy!

Best Kept Secret in Newport News...

Ok, so it's not top secret, but definately was not on my radar before we were invited to a birthday party there. What's even sadder is that I live about 10 minutes from here and never even knew that this little jewel existed. So, now you all are wondering where.....so some of you may be more on your A game and know about this place but I am referring to none other than Fort Fun!!! In my opinion it is the best park I've found in the area! If you haven't been recently I was informed that they just re-did it last year or so.  Here are just some random snap shots I took while at the birthday party, not staged, not posed, just kids being kids....hope you enjoy :) And if you haven't gone I strongly encourage you to go check it out you never know, you just might bump into me and my three amigos!

Heels over Head....

Bloopers in the life of Trenna...non photography related!

So this morning I was playing around with my daughter Ashtyn and she wanted to play "helicopter", you know the game where her chest rests on my feet and I extend my legs up in the air raising her up while holding onto her hands.  When she is elevated she loves to gently rock forward and backwards or side to side...did I say gently???  So this morning when I tried to rock her forward I was caught off guard when the momentum of this action combined with her 50+ body weight and her over enthusiastic excitement she continued on in the forward position.  As I lay there on the floor realizing she has gone to far and there is no way I can bring her back down I held onto her as long as I could guiding her now forward propelling body to try and ease the fall.  Now picture this she is still on  my feet while this is going on so I was literally folded in half...can you say OUCH!!! Fortunately Ashtyn walked away unscathed, with a few laughs out of it (no tears involved).  Mommy was not so lucky...so if you see me over the next couple of days and I don't turn my head to look directly at you, it's not that I'm ignoring you or pretending not to notice you it just hurts to turn my head.  My upper back and neck are so sore not even ibuprofen can touch it.  Oh...did I mention that this was in front of somebody too...so my pride was a little hurt too, ok a lot...lol.

Pomp and Circumstance...

When you think of graduations what are some of the first things that come to mind?  Pomp and Circumstance, caps and  gowns....or maybe especially if you are the student FREEDOM!  High School Graduation is just one of many major accomplishments in a young adults life. It is a time to celebrate achievement and to create lasting memories!

I had Elizabeth come to my in home "studio" so we could capture some images of her in her cap and gown...before the BIG day!

Elizabeth has already started taking some college courses...

She plans on pursuing a degree in Nursing!!!

Congratulations....

and best of luck!!!

*Photo Tips*
For those of you who follow me on FB you know how much I've been playing with "white studio"/"black studio" images and experimenting with different light positions to achieve different lighting effects.  In the above images I used 2 slaves with umbrellas and used my Canon 580 as the master.   Pin It Now!
